Considered one of the most distinctive aircraft to ever be seen in service, the Fairey Gannet was just as capable as it was unique during post-war times. Its unconventional design was in response to a 1945 Royal Navy requirement for an advanced carrier-based turboprop and capable enough to withstand operation at sea.
